From 2 November 2026 Amazon's fuel and logistics-related surcharge on Fulfilment by Amazon rises from 1.5% to 2% of the fulfilment fee, in ten European stores including Italy. It is calculated on the fee for each unit, not on the sale price: for a small parcel up to 400 g sold in Italy, with a €4.54 fee, that is about 9 cents per unit instead of 7. For Multi-Channel Fulfilment the increase starts on 19 November 2026.
Amazon announced the increase in the Italian seller forum on 19 October, and the European FBA rate card effective 2 November 2026 carries it in a note. The surcharge has existed since 17 April 2026, when Amazon introduced it at 1.5% to recover part of the rise in fuel and logistics costs and described it as temporary.
Where it applies and from when
- Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA): from 2 November 2026 in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Ireland and Belgium stores
- Multi-Channel Fulfilment: from 19 November 2026 in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. It covers orders from your own website or other channels that Amazon ships for you
- On which amount: the fulfilment fee. The announcements do not mention storage or referral fees
The same note appears on the rate card pages for Low-Price FBA, for the categories with their own fees and for the European Fulfilment Network (EFN), which ships your orders to other countries from the stock you hold in your home country. The 2% covers those fees too.
What it adds to Italian fees
In the November announcement Amazon gives an average of €0.02 per unit for EU FBA. In the April one, for 1.5%, the average was €0.05. The two figures only fit together if the November one refers to the increase rather than the total, and the announcement does not say, so it is safer to run the numbers on your own fees. With the rate card fees for sales in Italy, local or Pan-European FBA, standard categories:
- Standard envelope up to 210 g, €3.45 fee: a €0.07 surcharge, up from €0.05
- Small parcel up to 400 g, €4.54 fee: €0.09, up from €0.07
- Standard parcel up to 900 g, €5.15 fee: €0.10, up from €0.08
- Small oversize up to 760 g, €7.21 fee: €0.14, up from €0.11
Per unit these are cents, but the cost grows with volume. At 2,000 units a month with a €4.54 fee, the surcharge comes to €181.60 a month, €45.40 of it from the increase. Over a year at the same pace, that is €2,179.20. Enter your own fee, units and margin in the calculator.

Rough estimate. Amazon calculates the surcharge on the fulfilment fee of each unit and may round differently. The example fees come from the rate card effective 2 November 2026 for local and Pan-European FBA, standard categories. For Multi-Channel Fulfilment the 2% applies from 19 November 2026.
Who feels it most
- Products with thin margins: on an item that leaves you €2 per unit, 9 cents is about 4.5% of the margin. Low-priced products feel it more than premium ones
- Heavy or bulky products: the surcharge follows the fee, so in euros it grows with the size and weight tier
- Sellers shipping abroad: from 15 October 2026 to 14 January 2027, sales in Germany and the UK and sales through the European Fulfilment Network pay the higher peak season fees, and the 2% is calculated on those. Through EFN, a small parcel up to 400 g shipped from Italy now pays a €7.53 fulfilment fee, and the surcharge rises to €0.15. For sales in Italy with local or Pan-European FBA, the rate card has no peak fees
- Brands using Multi-Channel Fulfilment for their own online shop: the increase lands on 19 November, just before Black Friday, which falls on 27 November this year
What to do now
- Check the cost by product: Amazon has updated Profit Analytics, the Revenue Calculator and the Fee and Economics Preview reports, which show the per-unit and total impact. Start with your best-selling products
- Recheck the floor price of your year-end deals: if you set your Black Friday and Cyber Monday discounts on October's fees, look again at the products where the margin was already tight
- Check the dimensions and weight on file: a product placed in a higher tier because of wrong measurements pays more in both fee and surcharge. More compact packaging can move it down a tier, as we explain in our guide to how FBA works
- Consider Low-Price FBA: in Italy it covers small, light products up to €20 including VAT in most categories, and up to €12 in some, such as beauty, grocery and kitchen. The fees are lower, for example €3.59 instead of €4.13 for a small parcel up to 150 g, and the surcharge drops with them
- Rethink fulfilment for your heaviest products: if a bulky item has thin margins, compare the costs of FBA and fulfilling orders yourself again
Amazon says it will keep evaluating the surcharge as conditions evolve, so the rate may change again.
